Home of the Original Indian Cowboy
The Mad Plume Family has always lived along the Two Medicine River, where Hell's Half is located. Agnes (Chewing-BlackBones) Mad Plume, who owned many horses, had her sons—Edward "Shorty," Frank, and Lawrence “Hi-Sue”—working together to break them. One day, Shorty and Frank had a disagreement and decided to settle it with a bet: each would ride two horses, and whoever stayed on the longest would win. Although the story differs on who actually won, this wager ultimately led to the creation of Hell's Half Acre.
